Launched in semester 1, 2012. This project aims to help people who are benefit-dependent start and run their own businesses. Currently we have 2 businesses running under the umbrella of the Incubation Station: Vertical Gardens and Project Unity. Both projects have worked alongside a benefit-dependent individual to design, produce, and sell their products. Vertical Gardens worked with a man from the anger management programme at Raeburn House, while Project Unity worked with a solo mother from Te Waipuna Puawai and developed products that they could make and gain confidence while transferring key business knowledge and skills. We are looking to expand both businesses as well as start up more businesses with other benefit dependent individuals.
